Belgrade, 1 February 2010 – The rules that enable the registration of IDN ccTLDs were ratified at the annual meeting of ICANN held on 30 October 2009 in South Korea. IDNs enable the use of a local language and script for the string that will represent a country on the Internet. Countries which apply for localised domains can use only a non-Latin script and their official language. A comprehensive list of conditions that a string needs to fulfil so as to become the IDN ccTLD can be found in The Final Implementation Plan for IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process.
